Sindhu's Kitchen: Coconut Drumstick Dal Fry

Preparation time: 20 mins Cooking time: 15 mins
Serves: 2

Ingredients

1) Toor dal – 100 gms
2) Small onions – 6 to 9 pieces
3) Tomato – 1 qty
4) Drum stick – 1 qty
5) Jeera – 1 tsp
6) Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
7) Chilly powder – 1 tbsp
8) Turmeric powder – a pinch
9) Garlic – 3 Cloves
10) Grated Coconut(from half coconut)
11) Dry(Red) chilly – 2 pieces
12) Coriander leaves – handful

Preparation
Cook toor dal with turmeric powder, garlic, jeera. Mash the dal to fine paste. Peel the onions and chop tomatoes to small pieces. Cut drumstick to pieces(standard size will do).

Method

1) Pour oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. When it splutters add chopped onions. Wait till the onion

2.)Add cut pieces of drumstick and fry for 3 to 5mins in low flame.
3.)Add chopped tomatoes, red chillies and mix well.
4.) Add enough water to cover the mix. Once drumstick is cooked add coriander powder and heat well. Wait till raw coriander smell leaves.2_Coconut_Drumstick_Dal_Fry
5.) Add chilly powder and salt.

7.) When the mixture boils, add the grated coconut and heat well.
8.) When the curry gets thick add coriander leaves and switch off the flame.

Serve hot with rice and pappad.

Geetha's kitchen: Yummy Soya beans gravy!

Preparation time – 10mins
Cooking time – 20mins
Serves – 2

Ingredients:
Soya bean(small) – 1/4 cup (small sized soyabean is available in market now)
Tomato(big) – 2
Onion(big) – 2
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Garlic ginger paste – 2 tsp
Cooking Oil – 2 spoon (more the oil, better the taste)
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Coriander leaves – few
Mustard – few
Salt – few
Water – 1/2 cup

Preparation:

  • Soak soya bean in hot water for 5mins and then drain it. Squeeze it to remove water
  • Chop Onion and Tomato to small pieces.
  • Make garlic ginger paste using mixie. There are many ready made pastes available.

Method:

  •  Heat a pan with cooking oil and fry the soya bean till the colour turns brown. Transfer it to seperate bowl.
  • Using same pan, pour some oil, some mustard and add the chopped onion and then fry for 2 mins.
  • Add ginger garlic paste.
  • After 2 mins, add the chopped tomato and then fry for 5mins.
  • Add salt, chilli powder, garam masala and 1/2 cup water. Cook for 5 mins
  • Add the fried soya beans and stir well for 5mins.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.

Tasty soya bean gravy is ready to serve!

Note:
1. Tastes best with Roti, Chappati and Dosa.
2. You may add finely chopped boiled potato(small) 2 nos if you prefer.
